《freedom》是2008年Akon演唱的歌曲，收录在专辑《freedom》。

对于这次“自由之旅”，Akon很早就开始了宣传工作，他在发行专辑前去了12个城市做演出，并且还在网上举办了一个比赛，让歌迷各抒己见阐释“Freedom”对于他们的意义。

Akon对这张专辑的重视程度显而易见。

依然保持了自己特别的嗓音和一如寄望的悦耳旋律，但是在音乐制作上却与他之前2张R&B,Hip Hop和Reggae混合的专辑大相径庭，更多的欧洲派对音乐元素被引入了专辑，从整个2008年的多张主流Hiphop专辑来看，这一变化也将成为整个 Hiphop音乐圈发展的大趋势，Rave-hop这个新的曲风在慢慢的付出水面。先行单曲《Right Now （Na Na Na）》中的合成器音效清晰的验证了Akon向欧洲电子舞曲靠拢的思路，这首实验性的单曲也在发出后的第一周便登上了Billboard流行歌曲100强榜单的第18名。除了《Right Now （Na Na Na）》，专辑还有多首类似的舞曲，比如《Keep You Much Longer》，T-Pain跨刀的《Holla Holla》，《Troublemaker》以及《Beautiful》，Akon在这些为舞池人群准备的歌曲中给自己之前的风格彻彻底底的来了个大变脸。

与Lil Wayne，Young Jeezy合作的第二主打《I'm So Paid》便是典型的炫耀自己荷包鼓鼓的街头风单曲，Akon在这里重新“装扮”成了一个Hustler，宣布自己就是音乐领域的大老板，连老太爷也动不了自己：“上帝只需要一个电话就可以让一个艺人上位或者从娱乐圈消失，（猜猜怎么着？）我不用担心，我有的是钱，我拿这些钱控制了他！”和之前两张充斥着犯罪故事、街头传奇歌曲的专辑相比，《Freedom》让大家见证的更像是一个罪人寻找宁静生活的“自由之旅”，有好多温馨真挚的情感流露，《Sunny Day》讲述的是拨云见日时的完美感受，而在《Be With You》一曲中，Akon延续了2007年畅销单曲《Don’t Matter》中的话题，在制作人Hakim协助打造的电子雷鬼强节拍下，他对自己的爱人献上了一段真情告白并发誓没有事能够把他们分开。

其他值得一听的歌曲还有讲述“跌倒了就要勇敢站起来”的《Over the Edge》以及拿女人身上的胎记做文章的情歌《Birthmark》。

Akon依靠《Freedom》从自己之前的成功之中继续摘取果实，无论是自己家庭在移民到美国的过程中遇到的麻烦还是他自己的成长烦恼，他希望所有这些不幸的故事能够在这张专辑里终结。在继续消沉下去和忘记一切、尽情享受人生之间，Akon选择了后者，在被关押（“Locked Up”）并且认罪（“Convicted”）之后，Akon决定通过这张专辑彻底与自己的灰色过去说再见。

通过《Freedom》，Akon开始向自己事业的第二个巅峰走去，而他所选择的方向也保证了这次“旅行”不会又是一个抛物线”。
