中山大学化学学院教授、博士生导师,国家杰出青年科学基金获得者,现任
中山大学常务副校长(正厅级)、广东省政协常委。兼任
中国复合材料学会理事、高聚物基复合材料委员会副主任委员、界面科学与工程委员会副主任委员,广东省复合材料学会常务理事,广东省化学会理事、国家自然科学基金委高分子材料学科评审组委员(第7、8届)、中科院广州化学研究所纤维素化学开放研究实验室学术委员会委员等。

1982 公派赴美留学;
1987 获美国纽约市立大学博士学位,其后在美国北卡罗莱纳州立大学材料科学与工程系做博士后研究;
1989.6 回国工作;
1992—1994 任中山大学材料科学研究所副所长;
1996 获“国家杰出青年科学基金”;
1994—1999 任化学与化学工程学院副院长;
1999.8—2011.9 任中山大学副校长;
2011.9—2013.8 任中山大学常务副校长。
