张锦生，江苏丹徒人，复旦大学医学院病理学教授。1962年考入上海第一医学院医学系，1968毕业，以后分到西北农村为医生近十年。1978年考回上海第一医学院攻读硕士，1985年上海医科大学研究生院病理学专业研究生毕业，获博士学位。1988年至1990年获美国NIH福格地（Fogarty）博士后研究奖学金赴美国Wisconsin大学McArdle癌症研究所进行博士后研究。1995年赴瑞士洛桑大学医学院病理研究所进修分子病理。是中华医学杂志（英文版）编委。1996年批准为博士生导师。

担任病理学的教学与科研工作。研究方向为肝病病理,从事实验性肝癌癌变机理研究、肝纤维化发生机理的研究。发表论文36篇。

主编和参编《现代组织化学的原理及应用》、《原发性肝癌》、《实用肿瘤病理方法学》等专著及教材5册。

科研成果主要有“细胞外基质及间质细胞的病理生物学研究”,1995年获上海市科学技术进步二等奖和卫生部科学技术进步三等奖。培养研究生7名,已毕业博士生1名、硕士生两名,在学博士生三名、硕士生一名。

1991曾获国家教委授予的“有突出贡献的中国博士学位获得者”称号，2003年被国务院学位办选为基础医学学科评议组成员。
