擅长各类血管外科疾病的诊治,在腔内微创术治疗腹主动脉瘤主动脉夹层动脉瘤颈动脉瘤髂总动脉瘘和锁骨下动脉瘤胸腹主动脉瘤切除、内脏动脉重建、人造血管移植术治疗胸腹主动脉瘤;原位大隐静脉动脉旁路术治疗下肢动脉硬化性闭塞症降主动脉-腹主动脉跳跃式人造血管旁路术治疗多发性大动脉炎胸腹主动脉狭窄;颈动脉内膜切除术治疗中、重度颅外颈动脉硬化性狭窄所致的短暂性脑缺血;腹主动脉-肠系膜上动脉自体大隐静脉旁路术治疗慢性肠系膜上动脉缺血症;后腹膜肿瘤累及大血管行肿瘤和下腔静脉或门静脉、肠系膜上静脉-并切除人造血管移植术和点式大隐静脉剥脱术治疗下肢浅静脉曲张等方面积累了丰富的临床经验

主要贡献
2022年3月,复旦大学附属中山医院血管外科主任符伟国教授团队利用患者自体深静脉再造腹主动脉治疗重度感染性腹主动脉瘤获得成功,创下国内首例,把患者从死亡线上拉了回来。

  主动脉夹层是危及生命的疾病。以往的外科治疗依赖传统开放手术,创伤大、死亡率和截瘫率高。作为国内开展胸主动脉腔内修复术(TEVAR)的少数团队之一,他率领的课题组经过20年的努力,累计完成5000余例TEVAR,在探索与建立常规TEVAR技术路线的基础上,进一步优化复杂病例的治疗方案,使主动脉夹层死亡率和截瘫率大幅下降,先后多次获得教育部科技进步奖和上海市科技进步奖,以及华夏医学科技一等奖和上海医学科技一等奖等。
  为了惠及更多患者,他带领的复旦大学附属中山医院血管外科建立了“血管腔内治疗培训中心”,每年举办学习班20余次,培训了大量国内和亚太地区学员;累计培训进修医生400余人,培养博士30名、硕士12名;连续10届主办中国血管论坛,倡导通过手术演示、卫星直播等形象生动的新颖方式推广与普及腔内治疗新技术,将该项技术推广至全国47座城市的98所三级甲等医院
  医工结合 自主创新彰显中国制造
  许多较复杂的病例,使用常规的治疗方案及现有的手术器具无法完成。因为每个人的血管都不尽相同,为了能把支架准确地放到病变的血管位置,他带领团队先后开发出新型可调弯鞘和可调弯导管,经由监管部门批准成功上市,已被欧美等14个国家应用于临床;他还创新设计了主动脉覆膜支架,已完成临床试验;主动脉覆膜支架破膜系统,已完成专利注册。
  以身作则 抗疫期间显担当
  2020年疫情期间,他多次主持召开血管外科线上会议,为疫情下的血管外科临床诊疗提供建议,编撰出版了《新型冠状病毒肺炎疫情下有序开展各级血管外科手术的建议》,结合国内外相关文献,将血管外科常见手术按照急迫程度进行分类,为新冠疫情下血管外科工作的有序开展提供了宝贵的参考。
